I heard recently that the Chinese government wants to limit children’s use of computer games to three hours a week. Apparently, the proposed alternative is to read Xi Jinping’s “thoughts”. I am not sure that plan is sufficiently incentivizing!
It did however make me reflect on how disconnected we have become from ourselves, each other and from nature. There is the paradox that all this technology has made communicating so easy but we are, in reality, often living vicarious existences and are becoming more and more disconnected.
I always like to do my research. Recently, I have been seeing some recurrent themes about reconnecting with yourself and nature. Here are some ideas.
Walking barefoot!
I am seeing more and more people (actually one or two and the second person may actually be the first!!) walking barefoot on Namsan. I am not suggesting running barefoot, or even walking in the city barefoot but generally that touching the earth with our skin is a good thing.
Get some sun
The sun provides vitamin D. It’s also good for your bones, your blood cells and your immune system. It’s also just good to be outside. So, do it!!
Eat good food
Avoid processed food at all costs. Each time food undergoes some chemical process, it is a step further from its original and natural state further disconnecting you from a good diet and health. This is where Nosh can help. We certainly don’t use processed food and we try to use the best ingredients we can.
So, let’s make more of an effort to disconnect from technology and reconnect more with ourselves and with nature.
